What Can Geriatric Dentistry Help You Address?

Eating is less comfortable

Worn teeth, soreness or changes in your bite can affect meals. Start with what is most difficult day to day.

Dentures rub or slip

Bring your current dentures so their fit and the tissues beneath them can be checked.

Dry mouth or new medication

Changes in general health or medication can affect the mouth and may change how dental care should be planned.

Your Visit, Step by Step

Review health and concerns

Bring your medication list and tell us about discomfort, chewing difficulties or changes in your mouth.

Assess teeth and restorations

Examine teeth, gums and any dentures or existing dental work.

Make a practical plan

Discuss suitable treatment, maintenance and any help needed with home care.

Ongoing Care

Continue regular checks even if you wear dentures. Tell the office about new medication, dry mouth, sore areas or changes in how your teeth meet.

Common Questions

Can medication affect my mouth?

Some medicines can contribute to dry mouth or affect treatment planning. Bring a current list so your dental care can be considered alongside your health.

Do I still need checkups if I wear dentures?

Yes. Your gums and other tissues need assessment, and the fit of dentures can change over time.

Can a family member come with me?

Mention any support you need when arranging your visit. The office can discuss how a family member can help with communication and care instructions.
